Ossa IT awarded DPFEM contract to deliver National Firearms Register Implementation Project

Ossa IT has been awarded a contract by Tasmania's Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management (DPFEM) to deliver the National Firearms Register (NFR) Implementation Project, supplying and implementing a new firearms and licensing management solution for the state.

The National Firearms Register is a national Australian Government initiative described as the largest modernisation of firearms management since 1996, establishing consistent data standards and enabling seamless information sharing between state, territory and federal police and justice agencies. Tasmania's implementation will introduce a new registry system and public self-service portal for firearms licence holders and dealers, as part of a national rollout that commenced in July 2024 and is expected to be completed by 2028.

Ossa IT will lead delivery of the project, drawing on its Hobart-based team together with specialists across solution architecture, systems integration, data migration, testing and cyber security.
